The Rev. Naim Ateek is a retired priest of St. George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem. Born in Palestine in 1937, he cofounded SABEEL ECUMENICAL LIBERATION THEOLOGY CENTER (1989) which works for peace and reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis. His latest book is A Palestinian Theology of Liberation: The Bible, Justice, and the Palestine-Israel Conflict (2017).

Rev. Ateek is visiting as the invited guest of the Rt. Rev. Robert Fitzpatrick, Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Hawai’i.  He presents his unique perspective as a Palestinian Christian living under harsh conditions in the Holy Land, while working towards building a just peace for all people in the Holy Land, Muslim, Jews and Christians.
