For the first time, St. John’s will host an Alternative Christmas Market on Sunday, December 7. “A what? What’s an Alternative Christmas Market?”, you say. The Alternative Christmas Market will be fun way for you and others attending to bypass the STRESS of holiday shopping and accumulation of “stuff” and honor friends and relatives by purchasing gifts or making donations to lo cal, national, and international causes that fit their values. Reclaiming the Christmas story of God’s love for the world and the celebration of the birth of his Son Jesus Christ, the Alternative Christmas Market will allow you to shop with heart and gives you the opportunity to participate in socially conscious gift giving. You’ll not only be able to honor the relative, friend, or neighbor on your gift list, but you’ll helping some of our local non-profits here on Maui, as well as national and international causes.
Representatives from about 20 organizations will be participating. As of the writing of this article, representatives for the American Cancer Society, Hospice Maui, A Cup of Cold Water, Episcopal Relief and Development Fund, and Heifer Project have committed to having a table at the Market.
The Alternative Christmas Market will be held on Sunday, December 7 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the Parish Hall. Come and shop with your heart!
