Outreach is very important to the parishioners of St. John’s, and “feeding” ministries are a big part of our efforts. Our Food Pantry is open by appointment and to drop-ins Monday-Wednesday, and Friday. We also host a Community Dinner on the last Friday of every month from 5:30-7:30pm which is FREE and open to all. We are pleased to be able to host members of the larger Upcountry community. In Fall of 2013, we kicked-off A Cup of Cold Water Community Care Van (ACCW). The Care Van is a joint ministry of the four Episcopal Churches of Maui and the Diocese of Hawaii. ACCW recently received a $15,000 grant to fund half the cost of the van which brings food, water, clothing, and first aid supplies, directly to homeless people on Maui. To get involved, please contact the church office and we will put you in touch with the leaders of each of these important ministries.
Adult Spiritual Formation is an important part of the life of all people, and is highly valued at St. John’s. Our Adult Bible Study takes place between Sunday services, from 8:40-9:30. We also offer Lenten Programs and seasonal Book Groups, Inquirers Classes, and other studies related to scripture, faith, peace, and justice.
