Kula Festival History

The First Festival was held on Oct. 23, 1982. It began because the church was participating in a yearly fundraiser that was held at War Memorial Gym in Wailuku and they decided why go all the way there when we could have something larger right at the church? Quilts made by church members and Willie Fong's Chinese Handicrafts were the highlight of the first festival. It has evolved into a huge yearly event, 2,500 people attend (pre-pandemic) and the proceeds go to support St. John's Ministries and different partner charities chosen each year. Entertainers like Uluwehi Guerrero and Amy Hanaili'i have performed at the Festival. Highlights are a huge Silent Auction, yummy food such as Chow Fun, Baked Goods, David Fullaway's Fudge, Flowers, Plants and Produce.  Mahalo to Shannon Barber-Meyer for the photo below.
